Ribbed Fingerless Mitts

I recently got some amazing Ella Rae Lace Merino at Yarntopia, and it was just asking to be made into some fingerless gloves.

The colorway number is 142, I believe. It’s absolutely gorgeous, I love how vibrant and happy the colors are. It’s the perfect combination of purples, pinks, reds, and every color in between.

I’m making the ribbed fingerless mitts by PurlBee Soho. It’s a really simple pattern, totally mindless. I knit on the first one mostly when we went to see the Nutcracker before Christmas (woot for family traditions! ^_^)

As much as I love the first one I made, and I can’t wait to have a finished pair… I don’t think I’d make this pattern again. The way you get the thumb hole, as logical as it is, I found to be somewhat of a pain. You have to knit flat for an inch and a half, while all the stitches are distributed on DPNs. It wasn’t hard at all, just really fiddly and kind of annoying.

Overall though, I really love the end result, and I can’t wait to have the pair finished :-)

I made those for my husband. You’re right about the thumb hole. Once I read the reader questions, they explained the pattern a little better. The second one went much faster.
