It’s like butter in mah hands…

It’s like butter in mah hands…

So, I *have* been really good about finishing my UFO items. My bin is almost empty (I’m serious! There are only like… 3 or 4 things left! I CAN SEE THE BOTTOM!! This is huge)

Therefore. I get to cast something new on. It is small. It will get done, I promise. PLUS! This is stash yarn. So, it’s even better ^_^

Obviously, this is from Sweet Fiber on Etsy. And this stuff. Is so extremely soft. It feels like butter. No exaggeration. Like, even more so than like.. Malabrigo (which I’ve heard called “fluff” and “clouds” which is very true, haha :-P) But it’s got a really nice twist, so theres no chance of it falling apart. Epic win.

PLUS THE COLOR?! Oh my goodness. All of Sweet Fiber’s colors are so. extremely. beautiful. If I had the money, I’d probably buy everything.

So, what will I be making? I’ll be making the Bandana Cowl from the Purlbee Soho (free pattern, yaaaayyy!)

I’ve had this cowl in my queue on Ravelry for awhile. And now ^_^ I get to make it. Heehee!

Let it be known..

Let it be known..

Dear World,

Let it be known that my friend, Hannah. E, is one of the bestestest people. In the entire world. For many reasons. But one particular reason is that… She knit me. a TARDIS (yes. A TARDIS) Laptop cover.

Annnnnd, I’m still kinda geeking out about it. Which is saying something, because I got the package yesterday. IT’S THE TARDIS! IT’S A LAPTOP CASE! HOLY COW! I had no clue.

When I opened it, many fan-girl-like squeals escaped me… and maybe I wiggled a little bit. Heehee ^_^

I still can’t believe it, haha. It’s just *that* cool. And I’m *that* big of a Doctor Who fan, but that was already an extremely well known fact… haha :-P

So yes, it is very sad for me to say that I live far away from Hannah, so I am not able to express my gratitude in person with hugs and such. But she really is amazing. Like, really really really ^_^ <3

And I shall call it.. London Streets

And I shall call it.. London Streets

Ze back is done. ^_^

And I’ve finished the ribbing on the left side, and am about… 15 rows into the stockinette stitch part, before the increases.

The big news of the day? Like huge huge huge??

I finished Spectra ^_^ Which I’m calling London Streets(ravelry link), because I got the yarn, obviously, in London… at the iKnit store in Waterloo of Greater London. And the colors also just kinda remind me of the colors that *were* London… that I saw anyway, haha. If that makes sense, haha :-P

there’s one picture, but some better ones will be taken in the near future though :-P Never fear! It is a shawl/scarf thing. More so a scarf… I’m wearing it right now, actually ^_^ It’s so nice and squishy and warm… I’m soooo loving it. But it’s also not heavy, and I’m almost positive I’ll be able to wear it when it gets warmer as well!

This project definitely required a lot of perseverance, haha. But it was SO EXTREMELY worth it. It’s going to look *amazing* with anything.

Also… since this is done. I mean, this one of my UFOs that was stashed away in one of my many bins of UFOs. I should… be able to… work *whispers* cast something on *whispers* on something… don’t you think? As a reward. Maybe?

And, technically. Thing I’d be “working on”.. *cough* heh heh … would be repurposing some yarn that I used to start the Gnarled Oak cardigan.

Since then, it has been sitting in that UFO bin just… sitting there. And something else has also caught my eye. And that would be Chalet by Cecily Glowik MacDonald

Annnnnd, I really really want to make that. Like realllllllly bad. Heehee ^_^

He is so cute, it’s totally worth it. So worth it.

He is so cute, it’s totally worth it. So worth it.

So yesterday.. right after I took pictures of my Spectra. *Someone* decided he wanted to be part of it…

So here are some pictures I took of Bertie… who is showing off his wonderful model skills. So yeah, these were taken yesterday. But, you know me… crazy cat lady that I am.. how could I *not* post these? :-P

He’s so helpful, haha :-P But from a knitting perspective, this is only making it *more* mine (and more his as well, haha). If he hadn’t rolled on it, and spread the love of his cat hair.. it just wouldn’t be the same, haha. But now he has. So it’s all good ^_^

Also, I’m now up to 73 wedges. 12 left. I CAN DO THIS.

Obviously, this is a very… Bertie-oriented post. Heh heh :-P But he’s so cute, it’s totally worth it, right??? Exactly, it so is :-P

Spin Me Some Shetland

Spin Me Some Shetland

So I learned how to Navajo ply, without wanting to rip my hair out in the process. I’m so excited about this. Because 1) it was easy. it *is* easy. and 2) I adore how it ends up. It’s so.. squishy. And poofy. And.. just awesome.

I did this month of TheKnitGirllls’ “Expand your Horizons” which was Shetland. (“Expanding Your Horizons, being just where every other month, you spin the chosen fiber… that happens to be something that people don’t normally spin with. I think this is an uber cool idea)

(and actually. The tutorial I used on how to Navajo ply was by TheKnitGirllls, (which is the last video on the list, but all of the tutorials are uber helpful!) and it was really really awesome. It was extremely clear, and made it seem uber easy. Which it really is :-P Before I was scared to do it.. but now, it’s my #1 choice :-P)

So here is the result of my spinning and learning of ze Navajo ply. I got around 122 yards on each color of probably a worsted (which I believe is my first *true* worsted, haha)

It’s really hard to photograph the colors, haha. They’re just so extremely vibrant and beautiful… Plus, you can’t fully know how amazing it is, because you can’t touch it. Because, if you touched it.. or squished it… or smelled it… you would be like “OHMAHGOODNESS. I need to get me some of that stuff”

And you *can* get some of that stuff :-P Over at Friday Studios on Etsy. Frida is so nice, and the product is *AMAZING*. The blue colorway is called “Almost Blue Skies” and the rainbow one (which I adore. With my entire heart.) is called “Rainbow Softies”

So yeah, if you need some Shetland (which I *really* recommend, it’s such a beautiful and soft fiber to spin with!!) you should get some from Friday Studios. It. Is. epic.

Also, I’ve reached 68 wedges on my Spectra..

out of 85. So… I have 17 left. I CAN TASTE THE VICTORY OF FINISHING THIS. I’ve had this on the needles since we were in London.. which was last…Juneish. This thing is ready to be done. Though I do really enjoy knitting it, I love how it’s turning out. But it needs to be done, haha :-P

Bullseye Bump Club

Bullseye Bump Club

Ok, so I cast on something new. I really do have a problem, and I’m totally willing to admit it, haha. I HAD TO! I do feel like I deserved it though… I had finished almost all the gift knitting, except the last one (which is really simple, so it doesn’t count)… so I thought a little reward was in order ^_^

This really small, uber uber easy, little cardigan. Called Beulah. (Personally, the name makes me laugh. So I’m on the look out for a new name :-P)

Basic shaping, nothing fancy *at all* in the construction or shaping. IT’S SO NICE.

I’m mainly working on Spectra(which is currently 62 wedges out of 85. 23 left! Woot woot!) right now, because I really really want to get that done. But this is kinda my “Heehee, lets have a little break. You deserve it” project :-P

Also, my first birthday Loop batt, from the Bullseye Bumb Club, came in the mail on Saturday. AND I’M SO EXCITED TO SPIN IT! (mainly because I just figured out how to Navajo ply, but that’s for another blog post :-P)

This was my surprise bump. Batt. Thing. Poof. It’s got merino, corriedale, nylon, bamboo, tussah silk, and angelina in it. Did I mention I was excited about this? Cause I am.

Look, look! I made a skirt!!

Look, look! I made a skirt!!

I made a skirt today ^_^ With a lot of help from my mom, which was really nice of her. I took several pictures, haha :-P

This pattern, was uber uber uber easy. My mom did say that if you didn’t really have a whole lot of sewing experience or knowledge, it might be a bit confusing and frustrating at times. But, thanks to my mom, we didn’t really have many big problems at all. This pattern came from the Grosgrain blog and I definitely recommend it. The blog and the pattern, haha. The only thing different we did, was have 3″ wide elastic, to create a wider and more fitted top. But next time I do this again, I’ll try it with thinner elastic..

Bertie helped a lot :-P

He’s so cute. And helpful. Rolling in that pile of catnip.

*the lyrics “ROLLIN’ IN THE DEEEEEEEEP (pile of catnipppp)!!” ran through my head* Kinda seems fitting, haha.
